Digital media is increasingly used today in the field of illustration, in a variety of ways. Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and similar programs allow for a tremendous scope of techniques and styles to be employed in digitally painting a piece, many of them virtually identical to those used in watercolor, ink, and other traditional media, despite using pixels and vectors instead of paint and paper. Even traditionally created pieces are frequently tweaked, adjusted, or composited in their final stages using Photoshop and other programs.
